Ankle

My Monday morning started with a quick trip to the ER. I say quick, because I was in-and-out of there in one hour flat with x-rays and all. Emory Johns Creek Hospital is fantastic. I actually made it to work by 10am.
My ankle has been bothering me for months. It's sprained, AGAIN.

Let's back track a little. In middle school I had to take PE class, which I hated since my athleticism has never prospered. I have always been the fat kid, so running, especially for a timed exercise, was a horrible experience for me. Nonetheless, the State of FL required that my PE coach time the entire class. I dreaded this annually.

So in sixth grade, off I went with my best friend Kelly Roy. At about 1/20 of a mile into it, I fell into a deep hole that fit my foot perfectly. I was on the ground, with dirt-compacted knees. Kelly no longer saw me, and actually thought I was trying to out-run her at the time. HA.

That was the beginning of a 15 year battle with pain, swelling and omg unbearable limping at times. Since my dad couldn't afford to take me to the dr or hospital, I just wrapped it in an ace bandage and borrowed crutches from Kelly for a few days.
It's never been better.

I can go months without pain but it always creeps back. Well this time, it was unbearable, and I finally had it after a twist on my stairs. Off to the ER today I went. It wasn't fractured, I figured it wouldn't be, but the doc said it was pretty bad. My range of motion is very limited and I'm in a gigantic, black, velcro-strapped boot for 6 weeks or so. This time I really do plan on following-up with an orthopedic specialist for further examination. I want to be able to walk at age 50.

The kinda funny thing is that this weekend we're traveling back home to FL to go to Kelly's wedding and after 15 years ....I have to show-up in a medical boot.
